FOREST INVESTMENTS

Forest Investments

Forest is widely defined as an alternative investment, similar to land and property. These are all popular however not only for their above-average ROI prospects, but because they are largely independent from other financial market activities. With the addition of alternative investments in a traditional investment portfolio, the efficiency and stability of the complete portfolio ratio can be significantly improved from the viewpoint of the risk-return.

Wood is one of the oldest and most important raw and basic materials. As before, the annual timber production exceeds the quantities of steel, aluminium and concrete.

In 2005, the total amount of the world’s accumulated wood in forests was estimated at about 422 gigatons. Every year, 3.2 billion m³ of raw wood are currently being harvested and used for materials or energy. Avoiding over-exploitation of natural resources and running the forests suitably to guarantee sustainability is therefore paramount.
